Nigeria’s Information and Culture Minister, Lai Mohammed, has declared that about 55 people may have stolen close to $6.2 billion public funds from the country.

The Minister said his while speaking on Al Jazeera as part of a feature on the vast properties acquired in the UK with stolen funds by Nigerians.

He stated that $2.06b of the alleged stolen funds would have built 600 kilometres of roads, 37 hospitals, 20,000 housing units and trained 4000 kids from primary to university level.

He also called on UK authorities to support Nigeria in its quest to recover stolen funds domiciled in the country.
