Tasks Media, Civil Society
Former Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the last general elections in Lagos State and one of the key party’s chairmanship aspirants, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has blamed the crisis rocking the party on shenanigans by the ruling All People’s Congress (APC).
This was contained in a statement issued in Port Harcourt yesterday by his Director of Media and Publicity, Felix Oboagwina, Agbaje said: “PDP did everything to nourish democracy. But it is obvious that the ruling party does not want a viable opposition.
“APC must realise that without a thriving opposition, democracy cannot survive.”
Agbaje urged the media and civil society to take the ruling party to task on the need to stop meddling in the internal affairs of the opposition.
He also said the crisis leading to the postponement of the PDP Convention far outweighed his own personal disappointment.
