Lagos Accelerates Issuance Of Electronic Certificates Of Occupancy
The Lands Bureau has, in the last five months, issued 821 electronic certificates of occupancy to property owners in Lagos State since it commenced a restructuring of its processes to ensure prompt customer service delivery.
The Special Adviser, Urban Development, Mrs. Yetunde Onabule while addressing media correspondents recently, said the feat was achieved in line with Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s resolve to ensure that land title documents are obtained with ease.
According to her, “This feat, no doubt, is borne out of His Excellency’s renewed effort and desire to accelerate the process of issuing titles, as well as the increased awareness created by this administration, which spurred property owners towards having titles for their landed property”.
Onabule said that the Bureau has created a dedicated help-desk to provide support for C of O applicants with cases of abandoned or uncompleted applications by helping them resolve all outstanding issues promptly.
She observed that though the volume of uncompleted applications is still high, the Bureau has the wherewithal to handle all outstanding cases and therefore, encouraged applicants to visit the Bureau for a quick completion of the abandoned application process.
The Special Adviser disclosed that a total of 4,252 electronic Certificates of Occupancy have been since the process commenced in May 2015.
