A chieftain and governorship hopeful of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde has advised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that rather than continuous attack on PDP’s coalition it should start counting it’s achievements in the last six wasteful years of its administration in the state.
He maintained that condemnation of coming together of PDP in the media by the APC has shown that the APC is already scared of the coalition and truly afraid of the imminent defeat it will suffer in 2019 in the state.
Makinde made the advise while speaking with journalists shorty after the meeting of the caretaker committee members of the PDP in Ibadan, the state capital.
The meeting was called to fashion out modalities in ensuring hitch and rancour free of forthcoming Ward, Local and State congresses of the party billed to take place on Saturdays; October 21, 28 and November 4th respectively.
Makinde who advised the APC to look for other way of clearing the mess it brought to the state in the last six years of its governance, pointed out that the recent condemnation advertorial and jingles being sponsored against PDP by APC can not prevent the PDP in sending APC packing in 2019 general election in the state.
He maintained that APC should look for other way of appealing to the people instead of looking at the faults of the opposition.
According to him, “They should look for ways of appealing to the people instead of blackmail and cheap propaganda targeting against our coming together, which has become their headache and making them uncomfortable anymore.
“And if I were them, they have spent six years in the state, they should start and put forward how they utilised peoples money and tell us whether Oyo state is far better than when they came in.
“I think my advise is that they should start looking for things that can persuade the people and not finding fault in the opposition.
“And the APC, what they are looking for is to hear that the PDP guys are fighting, we would not give them that opportunity, the jingles in the radio is a sign of jittery. People are wiser. They need to look for other things that will appease the people.
Speaking on the forthcoming congresses, Makinde said that the party has put all necessary machineries in progress to achieve smooth and hitch free congresses.
“We are prepared and not something that is new. PDP has been in existence since 1998, we did it in 1999, this is something they do every now and there. Preparation is ongoing.
While also speaking on the national chairmanship position of the party which is being contested by two indigenes of the state, Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja and Professor Tahoeed Ladoja, the governorship hopeful affirmed that it was a good development for the party and the state in particular.
“There would not be any clash of interest, I think the constitution of the party and also constitution of the country allows people to go forward and vote for candidates of their choice.
“I think is good for Oyo State, we have eminently qualified sons of the state that can go and fight it at the national level, it is something good for us.
