In line with its thought leadership trend on promoting good sleep, leading mattress manufacturer, Mouka Limited, will join the rest of the world to celebrate World Sleep Day, an annual event which comes up this year on March 14th is aimed to celebrate the benefits of good and healthy sleep and to draw society’s attention to the burden of sleep problems.

This year’s event themed ‘Restful Sleep, Easy Breathing, Healthy Body’ bothers on the pillars of a healthy body.
As part of the celebration, Mouka has planned series of activities that surround this theme and will duly educate the Nigerian society on the benefits of a good night’s rest.
Topping the list of activities for this year is a radio interview with a renowned sleep expert, Professor Njideka Okubadejo, which will run on March 14th at 8:15 AM on Top radio 90.9 FM and also on Smooth 98.1FM 11 AM. The interview will provide insights as to the health benefits of good sleep as part of a person’s wellbeing, explaining sleep disorders and how to manage it.
Other activities include a weekly newspaper column with tips on promoting good sleep, highlighting salient issues on healthy living, healthy aging and complete wellness; and a campaign tagged ‘Sleep on a Mouka, Not on the Job’ which is currently running on the company’s social media platforms.
“World Sleep Day is a worldwide wake-up call,” says Peju Adebayo, Managing Director, Mouka Limited, “We want more people to be aware of the enormous importance of sleep to our health. This year’s focus on ‘Restful Sleep, Easy Breathing, and Healthy Body’ could not be more apt as we all look for ways to truly enjoy our lives in good health.”
“At Mouka, we are proud to be leading promoters of good sleep in this part of the world where many people don’t take sleep seriously. We have discovered a low level of awareness of the dangers of insufficient and low quality sleep. It is our hope that people will tune in to the radio programme and connect with us on twitter and facebook to obtain very useful information that will have a positive long-term impact of people’s well-being,” she added.
Lack of sleep, or poor quality sleep, is known to have a significant negative impact on health, both in the short and long term. Poor sleep has been associated with obesity, diabetes, weakened immune systems and even some cancers, as well as many psychological conditions such as depression and anxiety.
The maiden edition of the World Sleep Day in Nigeria, tagged ‘Sleep Well, Grow Healthy’ was organized by Mouka Limited in 2011. Over the years, Mouka Limited has remained consistent at delivering quality and reliable products and services that meet the ever growing demands of the Nigeria consumer.
