The Garrison Command of 2 Mechanised Division of Nigerian Army, Ibadan has organised Inter Brigade Quarter Guard competition to promote and imbibe the spirit of team work, regimentation and discipline in the Nigerian Army.
As the Garrison Commander of the Division, Brigadier General Oluyinka Soyele declared that the Nigerian Army is determined at ensuring that its men and officers attains optimum performance in combat.
Brigadier Soyele stated this while delivering his welcome address at the opening of the 2 Division Nigerian Army Inter – Brigade Quater Guard Competition held at 2 Division Garrison in Ibadan.
He maintained that the Inter Brigade Quarter Guard competition “is purposefully done” to promote and imbibe the spirit of team work, regimentation and discipline in the troops .
According to him, “The Quarter Guard Drill competition is a team work centered on alertness and obedience to command. There are basic requirements for individuals and group survival . A soldier that is always alert and obeys orders as expected will remain a professional model and an assets to every command”.
Brigadier General Soyele stressed that the Inter Brigade Quarter Guard competition” purposely designed to come just before the Cpls and Below Combat proficiency competition which is still going to be hosted by this formation starting tomorrow Tuesday, 24th.
The Garrison Commander pointed out that ” this is purposefully done so that the spirit of team work, regimentation and discipline will be imbibe in the troops, as a prelude for the success in the forthcoming combatant proficiency competition”.
While lauding the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Okudile Fedils Azinta and his Staff Officers ” for identifying the urgent need to sustain regimentation in the Division “, urging all the competing formations to see the competition as a training activity of the Division and the Nigerian Army aimed at attaining optimum performance in combat.
