PDP LG Congresses: We’ve Proof APC Wrong -Senator Lanlehin

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin has disclosed that the party has proof the All Progressive Congress (APC) wrong through the peaceful conduct of the last Local Government Congresses of the party held across the 33 local government of Oyo State last Saturday.

The Senator who represented Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly between 2011 and 2015, explained that contrary to the belief of the APC members in the state that the congresses of the party would not see the light of the day or turn blood letting at the ward and Local Government congresses held penultimate and last Saturday respectively was conducted in an  peaceful manner. 

Lanlehin made the disclosure shortly after the conduct of Ibadan North West Local Government congress of the PDP held at Ebenezer Primary School, Salvation Army Road, Ibadan.

Lanlehin who was former Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on National Planning, Economic Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and governorship hopeful in the party noted that reports of the ward congresses in all the 350 wards and 33 local government areas in the state shows that everything went well for the party. 

Lanlehin who is also a member of the Caretaker Committee of the party representing Ibadan North West Local Government Area however insisted that the PDP having learn its lesson, the party was determined to come back fully in 2019. 
 
According to him,  “Everything went very well, we are all determined, all the federating party so to speak, we agreed to work together, ground work have been done, arrangement have been done, we concluded that we have to come together and form a new PDP. 
 
“That is what we have done, we gathered to do the congress of Ibadan North West Local Government, as you can see the choice of the officers were conducted in a peaceful and acceptable atmosphere, this is to show that the party is determined to re-engineered and re-configured.
 
While responding to some outcry of some members of the party who were said to be schemed out during the ward congresses, Lanlehin said that the party has put a mechanism in place to resolve differences among its members. 
 
According to him, “There is nothing you can do to satisfy everybody, I am confident and I do know that we will try to resolve it. The people who are aggrieved have every right to do so but we are working to ensure we are working together. 
 
“This only shows that we are determined to forge ahead, the people are, the opponent have expressed the view or the wish that the whole thing will result into probably blood-letting or violence, but you can see and that was what happened at the last congresses. 
 
“There is no where that we have any fracas, quote me, in any of the 350 wards we have in Oyo State, I have no doubt that the Local Government congresses is peaceful, it shows that the people are determined and ready to move.
 
“I can assure you that with the grace of Almighty God and the people of Oyo State who are tired of the negative change of the un-progressive change, of the confused change that this government, the government of the APC vested on us, clueless, corrupt, directionless. 
 
“We have never had it bad like this, with the cabal, I tell you that this party, we will change the changer, we are determined to give our best to Nigeria”. 
 
“Look, the economy is in shamble, I know of Oyo State, the governor does not care”. 
 
Those elected to pilot the affairs of the patty in Ibadan North West Local Government Area were; Alhaji Lukman Adesina (Chairman), Alhaji Nasiru Dauda (Deputy Chairman), Asimiyu Gbolagade (Secretary General), Kazeem Fantola (Publicity Secretary), Muniru Lawal (Assistant Publicity Secretary) and Oladepo Aluko (Organising Secretary). 
 
Others were; Iyabo Ladapo (Women Leader), Tunde Agboola (Treasurer) and Comrade Falodun (Youth Leader).  
 
The congresses which were held across the 33 local government across the state which were monitored by journalists were conducted peaceful manner and atmosphere.
