Prof Peller’s 20 Years Remembrance: Son Sets To Discover Talents, Empower Youths


The Chairman, Aquila Group and the Scion of the great magician, Professor Moshood Abiola Peller, Chief Shina Peller, has put all machineries in place to celebrate the 20th year’s remembrance of his late dad.


Top of the progarammes slated for the remembrance, which is talent discovery in the area of sport particularly football competition, entertainment, music and other side attractions like special presentation, mentorship,  and freebies.


He made the disclosure at a press briefing heralding the maiden edition of Peller Unity Cup, football competition. Oke Ogun District, organised by Aquila Group in conjunction with Oyo Srare Ministry of Youths and Sports.


At the briefing were Oyo State Commissioners of Youths and Sports, and Information, Barrister Abayomi Oke and Mr. Toye Arulogun respectively and other stakeholders in grassroots development.


Peller explained that he decided to celebrate the 20th remembrance of his late dad with talent hunt and empowerment programme as to contribute his quota to grassroot development as well as fulfilling one of the vision of the late magician as a sport lover.


According to him, “AS part of programmes slated for 20th years remembrance of my late dad, is Peller Unity Cup, Oke Ogun District. This is the maiden edition and would be yearly event and would be extended to other zones of the statelike Ibadan/Ibarapa, and Ogbomoso. We decided to start from Oke Ogun because charity begins at home.


“Apart from sport activities , there would be opportunities in other area like administrative and creative sector, so as to empower youths as part of our grassroot development agenda. 


“The football competition would kick off on July 18th, 2017 at NYSC football field in Iseyin, while other matches would be played at Saki and Okeho while final would be played also in Iseyin on August 3rd, 2017.


300 footballers from Twenty teams across 10 local governments would be participated in the competition.


” The empowerment and talent discovering is strictly charity and those discovered at the football competition would be sponsored to football academy both home and abroad”, he stressed.

Speaking at the briefing Oyo state commissioner for youth and sports, Abayomi Oke also disclosed that those discovered would form part of Oke Ogun football team being proposed by Oyo state government for FA football competition. 


He pointed out that sporting activities is not solely government business but corporate bodies and well meaning Nigerians.


The winner of the maiden edition of the Seller Unity Cup, football competition would smile home with 500 thousand naira, second and third would go home with 300 thousands naira and 150 thousands naira respectively.
