Rep Abdulmumin Jibrin Resumes Plenary After Suspension

Formerly suspended lawmaker, representing Bebeji/Kiru Federal Constituency of Kano State, Abdulmuni Jibrin has resumed plenary at the House of Representatives.

The Representatives committee on Ethics and Privilege had found him guilty of accusing the leadership of the House of Representatives of padding the 2016 budget and has been on suspension since September 2016.

Jibrin, who had been on a 17-month suspension, on Wednesday resumed plenary after the suspension placed on him was lifted by the House.

He was pardoned on Tuesday, March 13 after writing a letter apologising to the House and having met all conditions given to him.

Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara while presenting the letter to the House on Tuesday said Jibrin is free to resume his legislative duties.

“He has fulfilled all the conditions by writing a letter to the House so he is free to resume his duties whenever he wants, if he so wishes,” Dogara told the House.

Jibrin who was the former Chairman of the Committee on Appropriation had been out of the House for a period of 180 legislative days after allegedly breaching the practices and precedents of the House of Representatives.
